Swift

Time to learn Swift. I've been wanting to dive into iOS app development for a while, and this is now a better time than ever. The last time I used XCode was years ago, and the combination of coming from a world class IDE (Visual Studio) to the comparitive clunkiness of XCode/IB and the (lack of) interaction between them, as well as Obj-C, was enough to frighten me off. I also had a slow hackintosh to develop on, which didn't help.

It's time to bite the bullet and dive in. I've been reading the Swift iBook and it's a good read. I am sure people are going to be just fine coming from a variety of modern languages - at least in my case, coming from C#/C/C++/Java/etc, Swift doesn't seem nearly as alien as Obj-C does. However, the framework is really always the important part, and I'll need to be able to grok Obj-C examples to interface with Cocoa/etc, so we'll see how that goes.

I'm excited.

Parrots!

I saw some parrots while visiting inlaws in Los Angeles. The only wild parrots in California I'd heard of are in San Francisco. We saw a flock of about 30 flying around. Too bad I didn't bring the telephoto.
